As we approach the New Year I wanted to present a series of posts that went live this year on where the opportunities in commercial real estate will be in the future – After all, with every big downturn comes unprecedented opportunities. I foresee the next few years being a very interesting and potentially profitable time for commercial real estate.

Where do you see the opportunities in commercial real estate over the next year?

2010-Next-Exit1As we near the New Year, we also approach the 1st birthday of ASotREG. I started this blog as part of my 2009 New Years resolution (About) and part of my 2010 resolution is to take this blog to the next level. I’ve learned so much about blogging over this past year, most importantly however, I’ve learned about the importance of building trust and community amongst my readers. With that in mind, here are some of the things I’d like to do at ASotREG in 2010 to help strengthen my community:

  • As part of my mission to help students transition into real estate and discover their perfect career path, I’d like to create more ‘advice‘ posts where professionals describe the roles they play, skills they posses, day to day responsibilities of their job and suggestions on breaking into their position.
  • I’d like to start video blogging. Maybe once a month or so I can have a Skype conversation with 3 or 4 people discussing a certain topic. I want my community to get to know me. As a naturally introverted person, I’ve worked hard to be more transparent and real,  I think video blogging is a great way to achieve my desired goals.
  • Create an  e-newsletter. I’ve been contemplating approaching the NYU Real Estate administration about starting a bi-monthly e-newsletter that will discuss the direction of the program, highlight achievements of both students and professors, talk about market opportunities, jobs and list industry events. This would really give the program a pulse. It will feature 100% exclusive content only available to newsletter subscribers. Although it would be through NYU, I think a lot of the material would be relevant for the ASotREG community.
  • I’d like to continue to refine the design and features of the blog to create ultimate user-friendliness.

I hope everyone has a great New Years and I look forward to celebrating a new decade with you. What are your goals for 2010?
