*I want to first let everyone know that there has been an insidious hack on my blog that automatically redirects traffic away from my blog to spam sites. It’s a huge inconvenience, but I’m working hard to resolve the issue. Thanks for your understanding.
After Monday’s post on the LEED credentialing process, I’ve decided to unofficially mark this ‘sustainability week‘ here at ASotREG. I was recently made aware of an ongoing documentary by PBS called e2 Design. It’s an eighteen part documentary-style television series investigating sustainable living and green design from New York City to rural Mexico (oh, and it’s narrated by Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman). It’s a part of the larger series e2: the economies of being environmentally conscious, which explores the solutions to prescient environmental challenges. Topics include design, energy, water, food, transportation and places & people.
Unfortunately you can’t embed the videos, but you can watch all the past webcasts, here are some of my favorites:
- “The Green Apple“: sustainable design options for skyscrapers in New York city.
- “The Art and Science of Renzo Piano“: Architect Renzo Piano redesign of the San Francisco based natural history museum California Academy of Sciences.
- “Affordable Green Housing“: New York City is known for its diversity, but that quality isn’t always reflected in its public housing developments, which often ignore the social and cultural characteristics of the communities who live in them. Featured in this video is one of my favorite developers, Jonathan Rose of the Jonathan Rose Companies.
The series brings together the innovators and pioneers who envision a better tomorrow. It’s definitely worth heading over to the site and catching up on the past episodes.
What do you think of the series?
